A Katy family called us when their old water system quit. It was outdated, and their home was back on hard, chlorinated water. We pulled the old system and installed a Sentinel PRO package.
When an old system quits
An old softener rarely fails all at once. It slowly stops doing its job, and the hard water comes back: white scale on faucets and shower glass, spots on dishes, soap that won't rinse clean. Chlorine and chloramine, which utilities add to disinfect the water, come back too. Many people notice them in the taste and smell at the tap and in the shower.
ZIP code 77494 is served by many different water utilities. To see what has been found in the water there, read our 77494 water quality report.
What we installed for the family
- Sentinel PRO water softener to remove the hardness minerals that cause scale.
- AquaCarb PRO carbon conditioner to reduce chlorine and chloramine across the whole house.
- PureGuard reverse osmosis system under the kitchen sink for drinking and cooking water.
- Weather Enclosure to protect the equipment from Texas heat and freezes.
Built to live outside
This install is outdoors, so we added our Weather Enclosure. It holds the softener, the carbon tank and the brine tank together beside the house. It keeps direct sun, rain and freezing weather off the control valve and fittings, and it hides the equipment from view. The full double-door front opens for salt fills and yearly service.
We also wrapped the plumbing loop in foam insulation to protect it in a freeze.

Drinking water at the kitchen sink
The PureGuard reverse osmosis system and its storage tank fit under the kitchen sink. A dedicated drinking water faucet sits beside the main faucet in a matching finish.

What changed
The old system is gone, and the hard, chlorinated water is fixed. The family now has soft, carbon-filtered water at every tap and reverse osmosis drinking water in the kitchen.
