What These Reports Show
Each full report uses three years of test results that water utilities report to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). We compare every contaminant found with the EPA's legal limit and with its health goal, the level at which no health risk is expected. Health goals are often stricter than legal limits. Each report lists the utilities serving that ZIP code, what was found above EPA health goals, your water's hardness, and which of our systems treats each contaminant.
Many homes in the Houston area are served by small municipal utility districts (MUDs), so two neighborhoods in the same ZIP code can have different water. Your utility's name is on your water bill.
Your Report Is a Starting Point
Utility reports show what leaves the treatment plant. Hardness, iron, chlorine taste and what your pipes add are best checked at your own tap. United Water Softeners provides free in-home water testing and will recommend the water softener, filtration system or reverse osmosis system that fits your results.
